The second edition of the African Gender Forum & Award (AGFA) will be organized in Dakar (Senegal). The Award Ceremony will conclude the 2-day African Gender Forum .

The Second Africa Gender Forum will ensure a discussion between African women, the African Diaspora and various stakeholders in Africa and other communities concerning the relationships between gender and migration, political, social and economic issues.

The forum will be based on the insights, experiences and contacts gained during the first forum, and the workshops, lectures, information sessions will be based on analysis and literature (books, reports, journals) related to the actual topic.

The tentative programme is articulated around the following issues:

Women and Migration

• The Changing Configuration of African Migration
• Migration policies and their implications for women
• Effects of African migration on women

Benefits of Migration: What Added Value for Africa

• The economic dimensions of migration
• Employment initiatives for highly skilled and returning emigrants
• The African diaspora

Roles and responsibilities

• Overview of recent conferences and meetings on migration and gender
• African government's positions on emigration and the implications for women
• Migration policies and development cooperation
• Cooperation with the international community
• The Rabat Conference: what prospects for African emigrants?

The Forum agenda will include networking breakfasts, lunches with speakers, dinners with discussions, workshops, plenary sessions and a gala dinner:

2007 Award Laureate & Recognitions
The African Gender Award 2007 will celebrate the Laureate's country: Rwanda. The ceremony will be attended by Rwandese Government officials, women's groups and members of the private sector. At the ceremony, two other Recognitions will be also awarded to the private sector and the civil society. They are to be designated at the national level.
